Ann Tyler

Ann's exploits in the field of employee ownership are varied and extensive. To give a flavour of her expertise we have listed below a few of her notable activities which should be seen alongside her Cambridge degree and qualification as a solicitor.
Ann's distinguished career includes:
  • setting up the first ESOP in the UK, in Roadchef Limited;
  • acting as Executive Director and Company Secretary (2001 - 2013) of the Employee Ownership Association, during its transition from a small lobbying group to a successful membership association;
  • setting up, sitting on, and leading various government and cross party groups and government reviews into employee ownership;
  • contributing to the Nuttall Review on employee ownership;
  • advising Grant Thornton on their 'Shared Enterprise' scheme;
  • currently Chair of Employee Ownership Insight (also known as Ownership at Work), an independent think tank working to increase awareness and knowledge of employee ownership in the UK.

A lawyer by training, Ann works with us as an ambassador for our services externally and a sector expert internally, supporting our focus on the employee ownership sector.

In particular, she brings added knowledge in the development of employee ownership models and the legislative framework within which they sit, as we further develop and promote the additional benefits that an independent trustee can bring to the board of an employee ownership trust.
