Simon Carter
With his energy and ability to see simple ways through complex situations aligned to governance, organisational and leadership experience in a broad range of settings, Simon provides clients with a team and results-focused board and committee member plus a versatile mentor.
He acts as a trustee on EOTs and EBTs, as well as a director, and is across the detail as well as the purpose in support of our clients in his appointments.
Simon’s career has been characterised by
leadership, strategy, governance and developing people during the course of
which he has worked regularly with international colleagues. He is an
experienced Director, including serving on the board of multi-site
organisations and working across culturally diverse communities. He is
comfortable chairing and being a member of committees and has sat on
remuneration and audit & risk committees. In the recent past, Simon headed
a new business college, formed in the UK Defence Academy under a deep-reaching
transformation programme which provided a unique insight to risk management and
implementing new systems into business as usual through a period of wider
organisational change. Earlier experience has included roles training and
developing leaders, leading multi-disciplinary teams, HR, operations, and
planning.
Military training in the Royal Navy provided exceptional organisational, governance, operational and management skills in complex environments, which have been complemented by a Masters in Defence Studies from Kings College London. This is enhanced by the IOD Diploma in Company Direction and the Chartered Governance Institute Certificate in Company Secretarial Practice, the former completed with distinction and providing formal training in chairing boards and committees.
